Dear Student:

I hope the first couple weeks of school have gone well, and that you are enjoying your courses and activities.  The College is committed to staying in touch with those students who live off-campus to ensure that you have all the resources and assistance you need.  Some things that I would like you to be aware of include:

·        One of the best ways to get connected to the College and meet people is to join an organization or club.  We have over 60 groups to choose from. I have enclosed a list of some of them with descriptions.  Stop by the Student Senate office (Tower 81) or call the Student Activities Office (ext. 6147) for more information.

·        Check the College’s web site daily (www.css.edu) for updated information, food service menus, athletic events, or to contact faculty and staff via-e-mail.  When on campus feel free to use any of the computer labs or wireless areas located in the following locations:

·        This spring a number of rooms in Residential Life will be available.  Consider moving onto campus to immerse yourself in college life, meet new friends, and walk to class!

·        Participate in Fallfest (10/31 – 11/6).  Look for information on the wide array of activities that make this traditional week-long celebration a highlight of fall semester!

·        We have developed a Commuter Lounge right by the Port/Java Express Coffee Shop.  The lounge is equipped with lockers and comfortable furniture and is a place to hang out and connect with other commuters.

·        The Duluth Community has focused on student-neighbor relationships over the past few years.  While most neighbors appreciate students, there have been complaints in regards to noise, parking and parties.  Please get to know your neighbors, introduce yourself, and do everything you can do to live responsibly with them.

·        If you have any particular needs or concerns, please contact me directly at ext. 6167 or  slyons@css.edu.

Sincerely,

Steve Lyons,

Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students
