RE: Campus
Behavior
Now that you have been on campus for a few days and have
settled in, I would like to remind you of something – our Benedictine Values
and how they are a guide for your behavior.
College life, from a very simplistic view, has two components: An academic life and a social life. Our values impact behavior in both areas.
Academic Life:
- We expect you not to cheat. This includes inappropriate use of Web
Sites as sources of information, or to lift whole sections of a site and
claim it as your own. Do your own
work at all times. True Love of Learning comes from
an honest engagement in the academic requirements and standards the
College adheres to. Cheating will
not be tolerated.
Social Life:
- Alcohol violations, vandalism, and
harm in any form to another person or their property will not be
tolerated. This is a small college,
with a cohesive community. The vast
majority of students care deeply for the College, and each other. Behavior that harms you, your neighbors,
or any of the property we are privileged to have will be known, and
responded to. Community, Hospitality,
Respect, and Stewardship are serious
values. If we are to truly live
them out, then students, faculty and staff will not tolerate irresponsible
drinking and its effects; vandalism to property; or any form of harm to
another community member.
Read our
policies in the Student Handbook pages 122-138.
The College of St. Scholastica is not a college that will ignore
transgressions to our community. We ask
that you make your choices wisely.
A successful
academic life, combined with a full and happy social life are the keys to a
great experience this year.
Good luck in
both!
